A grand gathering celebrating the 60th anniversary of QNU was held in Mingde Gymnasium on 1st, December. Those who presented at the ceremony were: Guo Ningning, vice governor of Fujian Province; H.E. Carlson D. Apis, Micronesia Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to China; Yao Jiannian, member of the NPC Standing Committee, member of the Chinese Academy of Science, QNUhonorary president ; Kang Tao, PartySecretary of the CPC Quanzhou Municipal Committee. Nearly 3,000 guests at home and abroad and representatives of teachers and students attended the ceremony.

On behalf of the government of Fujian Province, Guo Ningning congratulated the 60th anniversary of QNU, and granted full recognition to the achievements of QNU. She expressed her expectations that QNU should take the 60th anniversary as a new starting point to guide teachers to adhere to the "Four unities", to train students to undertake the mission of the era, to accelerate the development of "Double First-Class" construction and "Three-Step" development strategy, and to strive to build a multi-disciplinary comprehensive university with its own distinctive features, making greater contributions to Fujian in the new era.
In his speech, Kang Tao, PartySecretary of the CPC Quanzhou Municipal Committee, expressed the devotion to the construction of Quanzhou Bay under the leadership of the provincial party committee and the provincial government. Favorable policies for funding, campus expansion, talent recruitment, and engineering development, as well as the "Three-Step" development strategy of QNU would be fully supported.

Qu Guangqing, Gao Yuncheng, Lin Wei, Chen Yabing, Qiu Yinfu, Yang Xiaoxiang signed university-enterprise cooperation agreements with Fujian Inspur Big Data Industrial Development Co., Ltd., Phoenix Digital Media Education Group, Anta Sports Products Co., Ltd., Fujian Panpan Food Co., Ltd., Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical Co., Ltd., Fujian Seven Fashion Technology Co., Ltd., Fujian Billion Industrial Holding Co., Ltd., and Shuha Sports Co., Ltd.
