The International Symposium on Maritime Silk Road Sports Industry Held in QNU

On December 11th, the opening ceremony for the International Symposium on Maritime Silk Road Sports Industry was held in Quanzhou Normal University. It was hosted by Sports Industry Branch of China Sport Science Society and co-organized by QNU, EMLYON Business School, and Quanzhou Federation of Enterprise and Entrepreneur. The symposium lasted 3 days, aiming to strengthen the communications of sports industry between countries and regions along the Belt and Road and to promote the high-quality development of sports industry.



Prof. Dai Jian, Chairman of Sports Industry Branch of China Sport Science Society and former Party Secretary of Shanghai University of Sport, remarked in his speech, “Quanzhou owns a good foundation for the development of sports service industry. Hopefully, the structure of sports industry in Quanzhou will be optimized step by step, so will the sports service industry.”

Prof. Qu Guangqing, President of QNU delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. As mentioned in his speech, by tightly combining national sports strategies and regional social and economic characteristics, QNU in recent years has proactively built a platform to take advantage of the resources provided by government, enterprises, schools and research institutions. With researches on sports industry conducted, accomplishments have been made in areas like planning of sports industry, planning and evaluation of sports events, construction and operation of sports venues, development strategies for sports cities, inheritance of martial arts, etc. The successful organization of this international symposium not only proved the strength of QNU, but also offered encouragement and guidance for its future development.



During the keynote speech section, excellent lectures were given by Prof. Xu Yueyun (Dean of School of Physical Education of QNU), Prof. Lisa Delpy Neirotti (George Washington University), Prof. Morozovevgeny (Russian State-run Sports University), and Prof. Yi Jiandong (Academic Director of National Health MBA Project of National School of Development at Peking University). The main themes of the keynote speeches covered innovation of policies for promoting the high-quality development of sports industry in Fujian Province, market orientation of sports, sports innovation and so on.

On that afternoon, the round table forum with the theme of “Focusing on Innovation and Promoting the High-quality Development of Sports Industry” was organized for participants from the government, enterprises and educational institutions. Domestic experts and specialists from such countries as the USA, Russia and France attended the forums.

During the event, more than 150 experts and scholars from home and abroad took part in the eight sub-forums. They delivered speeches on eight specific topics like “promoting residents sports consumption, investment and financing”, hoping to boost the high-quality development of sports industry.
