On September 17, the World Heritage Institute of Training and Research for the Asia and the Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (WHITRAP) hosted the 45th World Heritage Convention in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The project Dianshuinanyue Band: Living Fossil of the Chinese Music --- Sustainable Development and Popularization of Quanzhou Nanyin Music led by Zheng Mingming, a postgraduate student from the class 2024 of the College of Music and Dance, was awarded the Star of Exploration among the 2023 Global Awards for World Heritage Education Innovative Cases (AWHEIC).
In this competition, 30 cases stood out of nearly 100 ones from around the world. The project led by Zheng Mingming aims to spread the cultural heritage of Nanyin in a new way. By carrying out diversified innovation in communication forms and planning, it actively promotes the sustainable development and popularization of Nanyin. The team was named the pioneer of contemporary experiments of Nanyin music.
